I discovered nails when I was 18. After finishing vocational training, I studied the basics at a nail school, and in June 2017, at the age of 20, I opened my salon, chouchou nail :).
To me, nails look most beautiful when they reflect light — the moment a nail sparkles under the lights or the view from a window is mirrored on its surface, and the moment I’m captivated by the beautiful curve of the form seen from the side.
That gloss only appears when the nail is carefully prepared from cuticle care, the curve is shaped by filing, and the form is built with precision.
Another thing that changed my work was the camera. I wanted to capture my clients’ nails beautifully, so I taught myself photography, and in 2022 I won a nail photo contest. That same year I received the Eriko Kurosaki Award at the Nail Salon Grand Prix, a project by the national magazine NAIL EX — the only salon from Fukuoka Prefecture to win it.
After that I joined NAIL EX as a 4th-generation EX MUSE, and my work with manufacturers grew. I’m currently an ambassador for après and a brand influencer for OPI. For après, I run the “one-nail trial” at Nail Partner Fair, applying the product to one of a visiting nailist’s nails so they can experience it first-hand. I have been doing this for four consecutive years since 2022.
In March 2025, the magnetic color gel CEDAR GROVE — which I created in a three-company collaboration between NAILEX, ARTiS di Voce and by Nail Labo — was released and reached nailists across Japan online and at Tokyu Hands. Seeing a color I designed become a product in stores felt different from salon work.
I still spend most of the week in my salon caring for clients’ nails, because staying in the field is what makes my product development and seminars convincing. Product development, teaching, photography — I’d be happy to be of help to manufacturers and nailists alike.
